Phonics, Reading, and Spelling Lessons

Phonics, Reading, and Spelling Lessons

One of the most difficult things to do as a teacher is to come up with fun lesson plans week after week. Take a look at how our staff has turned difficultly into fun for you!

1. Bubblegum Blends - This lesson will bring their attention to which consonants make up the blends within the new words they have been learning.

2. Clouds of Main Ideas - When it rains, it pours!

3. Cooperative Spelling - Students will have to be quick as they work together to figure out the correct spelling of any given word from their spelling list!

4. Fishing for Phonics - The game in the following lesson is a lot of fun and a long-time favorite with kids.

5. Jumping Syllables - The following activity is an excellent way to learn the concept of syllables, by helping students visualize the structure of words.

6. Lily Pad Letters - Incorporating game play with spelling words can make this lesson more exciting for students! Rhyming Word Relay - It's time to rhyme!

7. Sight Word Go Fish - Don't see any sight words?

8. Spelling Shadows - Tracing words has been proven to be an effective tool for memorization.

9. A Story in Sequence - Remembering the order in which events happen is a large part of any story.

10. When They Were Young - Have your students ever wondered why certain story characters act the way they do?
